Deep Fakes and Fake News Are on the Rise
Fake news and deep fakes are becoming more common nowadays as the technology is getting better and more advanced. As the election just happened the aftermath begins with many fake reports being put out to the public on social media. When fake news spreads it just brings confusion to everyone and nobody wants that. The more we know about fake news the better it will be in the future of it becoming more recognizable.
Finding the original person who published the photo or video is very important and it can show you how accurate the post is. As is states in Chapter 4 of The Verification Handbook, “The obvious — and usually most effective — way of doing this is to contact the uploader and ask him directly if he is indeed the person who took the image.Reaching out to the uploader via the social network account or email address the image was shared from is a first step, but it’s also important to try to ascertain as much about the uploader’s identity as possible.”
The following tweet located below shows that they think that President Donald Trump is making those comments even though the identity of the person is anonymous. In the video they also edited the voice of the person talking to make it sound like a man.
This video is very manipulating , because it is edited and hurting the Presidents image. The post was made by a non- verified user and was not the original publisher you.

Deep fakes and fake news are very troubling because they can seem so real and authentic, but in reality they are not. They are made by people who like to hurt people’s image and spread false rumors.
To summarize everything, the accuracy and credibility is the most important thing for a journalist. These two things will carry a journalist a long way, simply because the audience will know you for your work. Knowing how to find fake news and deep fakes is very important and knowing who the original publisher is allows the viewers to judge if it is true or not.
